"Many Rivers I Crossed", by Werner Volkner
Memoir of World War II German soldier of the Death's Head (Totenkopf) division.
Each copy is hand signed by the veteran himself.
Born in Berlin in 1924, he was the son of a decorated WWI Stormtrooper and Freikorps member, and grew up in Hitler's Germany. He joined the German Scout movement, which was taken over by the Hitler Youth.
In 1942, he joined the Waffen SS, and during the War he saw combat on the Eastern Front at Kharkov and the world's largest tank battle at Kursk. At Kursk, his division fought gallantly against a superior number of soviet divisions at Prokhorova. Shortly after this, he was wounded and later returned to fight as part of a battle group.
When the war ended, he spent three and a half years in various POW camps in Germany, Belgium and finally in England, where he was released in 1948.
He worked on the farm where he had been a POW, and in the 60s he joined the British Army's Royal Armoured Corps.
